As we get ready for another season of Winter Basketball I wanted to share something that will help athletes improve their shooting so he it is!

Please print this out for your athlete so they can understand where they currently are as a shooter.

When it comes to Developing Shooting Accuracy, there is much greater motivation to improve when the athlete knows:

1) What constitutes MASTERY (The Goal)

2) How far they are from achieving MASTERY – where they are NOW.

SP8 Ball Training Grading Scale For SHOOTING MASTERY

The FIRST thing we must explain to athletes is The Grading Scale – The Various Levels of SKILL.

A – Making 5 shots in a ROW from the SAME distance at Game Speed

B – Making 4 shots in a ROW from the SAME distance at Game Speed

C – Making 3 shots in a ROW from the SAME distance at Game Speed
LUCKY – Making 1 or 2 shots in a ROW.

BIG Benefits From Knowing What Constitutes SKILL

* He/she knows EXACTLY where they are as they practice. They know when to move on to another distance or type of shot.

* Communication between Player and Coach improves. "How is that jump-hook coming from in front of the basket?", asks the coach. "I'm at the B level, Coach."
